Authors are creative individuals who plan, research, and write books, lyrics, scripts, plays, essays, songs, and other non-journalistic material for publication or performance. They work for publishing houses, publishing houses, and other similar structures, or on their own.

These professionals may specialize in particular subjects or types of writing such as novels, short stories, fiction, poetry, to name a few.
