How to Pick the Best Book Publisher?

Have you always dreamed about writing a book? Want to become the best seller author? Want to sign books for your readers? Well, it can happen if you take the right steps in the right direction! Let’s start with the basics to find the best book publisher in India.

Write the book

The first step to becoming the bestselling author is to start writing a book now. Don’t procrastinate as editors are interested in the final products not the idea in your head. Make sure you have the required skill, discipline, and stamina that take to write a full-length book.

Know your audience

What is the central idea of your book? Who is your targeted audience? Before getting in touch with a publishing house, make sure you are ready with answers. Don’t generalize your answers as it will tell the editor that you don’t understand the book market or haven’t redefined your concept.

Research the market well

Never cold call the publishers to ask them if they will be interested in your book. Make sure to research the market well and find the best publishers in India who produce books like yours. Make a list of publishers who offer books in your category.

Prepare the manuscript

Make sure you have prepared your manuscript professionally. Get it print or type it on high-quality white bond paper. Never use erasable paper, and avoid using a dot-matrix printer. Double-space your manuscript and leave a 1-inch margin on all sides. Number your pages. Check your spelling. Use a clear, readable font and don’t "justify" your right margin; leave it uneven.

Submit your manuscript

When sending your manuscript, make sure you are sending them what is required. Use a manuscript box to mail a large manuscript and address it to the right person. Also, remember to secure your package without going overboard with endless layers of tapes.

Wait and don’t rush into things

After you have sent your package, make sure to remain patient. Sometimes it takes six months to a year before you hear back from the publishing house. However, you can choose to submit the manuscript to more than one publishing house. However, remember that each is open to simultaneous submissions.
